Most people remember Hanuman ji as the fearless devotee of Rama, the mighty vanara who lifted mountains and leapt across oceans. But hidden within his story are quiet moments that mirror very human struggles — Hanuman ji anxiety and depression. By looking at these episodes with compassion, we see not just a god, but a guide who shows us how to live with strength and faith when our own mind feels heavy.


When Hanuman ji Faced Anxiety

In the Ramayana, when Hanuman ji was chosen to leap across the ocean to find Sita in Lanka, he paused. Even the great warrior, blessed with immense shakti, doubted himself. For a brief moment, Hanuman ji anxiety and depression appeared as self-forgetfulness. He thought: “Am I capable of this impossible task?”


The vanaras reminded him of his strength, and in that reminder, his anxiety faded. Hanuman expanded in size, filled with courage, and took the leap.


Lesson for us today: Anxiety is often the mind’s way of forgetting who we are and what we are capable of. Sometimes, we too need reminders — from loved ones, from therapy, or from our own inner practice — to reclaim our strength.


When Hanuman ji Faced Depression

After Ravana was defeated and Rama and Sita were reunited, Hanuman ji felt an unexpected emptiness. His great purpose — serving Rama in battle — was complete. What now? This heaviness was nothing but Hanuman ji anxiety and depression in a different form — not fear, but hollowness.


Rama reassured him with love: “Your purpose is eternal service, Hanuman. As long as love exists, your life has meaning.” That reminder pulled Hanuman out of his darkness.


Lesson for us today: Depression often appears after life transitions — when the storm ends, or when a goal is fulfilled. What heals is not another task, but connection, love, and knowing we still matter.

What Hanuman ji Anxiety and Depression Teach Us Today

– Anxiety is forgetting your strength.

– Depression is forgetting your worth.

Hanuman ji teaches us that even the strongest can feel low, and that doesn’t make them weak. What matters is having a space to pause, remember, and reconnect.

This is where therapy steps in. Just like the vanaras reminded Hanuman of his shakti, and Rama reminded him of his eternal value, therapy is that gentle reminder for us:

“You are stronger than your fear. You are worth more than your sadness.”
